A Week at the Beach and a Big Birthday!

This past week Shannon and Grandma Pincock kidnapped Graham and headed for the beach. I missed him so much but I guess they had a good time. When they came back today I was so amazed how much he grew. He might be like fifty pounds or something. Oh, I was also not amused that he had some color...almost a tan. BABIES AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HAVE TANS! Anyway, Shannon is not allowed to take him away for so long again.

Here's a little slide show from their adventure at the beach!

And when they got back we celebrated a big day- GRAHAM'S ONE-MONTH BIRTHDAY!!

Amazing!

Not at all related to Graham, other than as a new father I think this has an even greater impact on me than it would have a month ago. This is amazing!

Post-Booby Coma

It's a lot of work being a baby! Here is little Graham passed out right after a feeding. He loves to eat and sleep (who doesn't?) I guess he needs to as much as possible because he is growing like a weed. Today we went for a walk and Graham's head extended by about an inch above the Baby Bjorn when two weeks ago he could still hide completely inside.

Growing, growing, growing...

Shannon and I are amazed at how fast Graham is growing. When he was born he was 7 lbs, 9 oz. We were told that babies lose wait after they are born and then by the second week check up are normally back to their birth weight. So, at Graham's first check up about four days after he was born, as expected, he had lost a little weight and was down to 7 lbs, 3 oz. For the next ten days things where going well except Shannon was concerned because Graham was only feeding for 15 minutes at a time. Despite his noticable growth, Shannon was worried that he wasn't eating enough. Well at the two week check up all concerns were relieved. Not only had Graham regained all his weight, he had actually put on over a pound. His new weight of 8 lbs, 12 oz was a 22% weight gain in ten days!!
Considering that he isn't even due until tomorrow, July 13th, that is pretty awesome. Good thing for Shannon he was born early!

Happy July 4th and Happy Canada Day!

Well, last week was a week of firsts. On Wednesday, July 1, we celebrated Graham's One Week birthday which also happened to be his first Canada Day (Canadian Independence). I can already see Shannon busting out the Canadian flag iron-on patch for his first back back like he's some hippie swinging from hostel to hostel in Europe. Maybe I should just enlist him in the Marines now.

Then for the long weekend we went to the Wolitski beach house where we had our first boat ride... Taking after his father's Surface Warfare Naval career, Graham spent most of the time on the boat asleep or eating.

First dip in the ocean...just the toes. Next week is SCUBA lessons.

And first Independence Day! While still in the womb I promised him fame and fortune if he could be born on the 4th of July. Next year we'll get him an American flag outfit....Shannon will be sooooo impressed!

Already a Week?

Is it possible that it has already been a week since this little bundle of joy has joined our lives? The nine months seemed to drag on, for Shannon more than the rest I am sure, but now Graham's first week seems to have come and gone without pause. In that week the happiness, excitement and joy that Graham has brought us has exceeded all expectations. The cuddling, swaddling, bathing, feeding, the little grunts and yawns and yes, even the the crying have all been an incredible source of elation. I am not sure how big a little bundle is or how much joy it holds, but it must be significant, so to be safe, let's just say this last week Graham Alexander Pardo has been Two Bundles Worth.
